Bill Rutherford

Captain Bill, a 5th generation Floridian and proud Veteran, founded VetCATCH to give disabled Veterans cost free fishing adventures. To support the mission, he also runs Rusty Bucket Charters, offering unforgettable trips for families, friends, and anglers of all levels. With over a decade on the water and thousands served, Captain Bill remains dedicated to helping Veterans heal while ensuring every guest enjoys a great day of fishing.

Captain Bill is a proud Veteran who understands firsthand the importance of camaraderie, healing, and the sense of peace that comes from time spent on the water. Having served his country, he knows the unique challenges that many Veterans face after service, and he uses his passion for fishing as a bridge to bring people together, creating an environment where connection and relaxation come naturally.

With decades of fishing experience, Captain Bill combines his deep knowledge of the sport with an unwavering commitment to those he serves. His trips are about far more than catching fish - they’re about building friendships, finding moments of calm, and reminding Veterans of the strength and community that surrounds them. Every outing is designed to be safe, meaningful, and memorable, leaving participants not only with lasting memories but also with a renewed sense of hope, healing, and belonging.

Sled

The 25 foot pontoon boat at is designed specifically with Veterans in mind, offering comfort, safety, and accessibility on the water. With space for up to six guests and the ability to accommodate three wheelchairs, it ensures that disabled Veterans can enjoy a stress-free and memorable fishing experience.
